Woke 101: You Snooze, You Lose!
Episode 13 is here!
“Oh, she WOKE!” But is she really WOKE? As the big W-word makes its way into pop culture, an actual spiritual awakening is happening around the globe. In their quest to serve love, The Empowerment Couple will pull back the curtain on what WOKE really means, how to be WOKE, and what the planets are doing to help us ascend into our new 5-dimensional world.
In Woke 101 we will discuss:
- Different types of awakening.
- What is an awakening?
- What keeps us asleep?
- Why should we awaken?
- How to embrace the awakening process.
- Tools for awakening the mind, heart, and solidifying your commitments to contribution.
Buckle your space belts and join us on a rocket ship into the ethereal plane where love, peace, and harmony have taken the place of fear, greed, and division. The time has come for the old guard to step aside, we got this…We are WOKE!
It’s a crazy time in this world and rather than focus on what sucks, what we don’t like, what is frustrating for us in this time, we want to flip the script and talk about what it means to be awakened, enlightened, empowered or what we will refer to as woke. As we were creating this episode, we realized that although the destination of being enlighted may be similar for everyone, the path toward enlightenment will be a unique journey.
Some of us are experiencing an awakening within our relationships. A relationship awakening can manifest as a dissolving marriage, or maybe a second honeymoon. Either way, it will be an extreme shift in that paradigm. Almost as if a light has been switched. There is an awakening in the wellness space, in the health space, organic food sector like we talked about in episode 9 of our podcast and the natural world is shifting rapidly. Some of us long for radical authenticity, honesty and are awakening to new thoughts. Some of us may be experiencing a spiritual awakening that is radically shifting our soul and lifestyle while others may have simply discovered the courage of questioning everything and demanding complete honesty from their information sources.
Yes, there’s an awakening happening in the information space, people are listening to podcasts, reading books again, or using audible. People are rejecting mainstream programming and looking for alternative information. At the same time, there is an information war taking place and you’ll notice that the old guard is upset about it, and censorship on social media and online is becoming a reality we haven’t seen as extreme up until now.
In many cases everything is either deemed, fake news, a conspiracy theory, woo woo, pseudoscience or only valid if someone deemed worthy said it. It’s a polarizing time and everything that once was considered normal is being challenged. I mean even the news is admitting the government has known about aliens and UFOs. The information is chaotic. The mind-blown emoji and the wtf emoji are being used on the regular. Whatever it looks like for you, it’s real and it’s happening.
While we can’t address every topic under one episode, we are going to focus on an important part of awakening we are witnessing and that is a massive switch from a mind centered world to a heart-centered world.
So today, we are going to talk about some of the historical evidence showing that this great awakening is a natural part of our evolution. We will talk about what it may feel like to have an awakening, why now is the time to “be woke,” and what you can do to facilitate this beautiful process.
While the old guard is firing its last attempt at maintaining it’s long-held control, we are witnessing its loss of power, and it’s slow demise. This is evident by how blatant our governing bodies are in their quest to divide and conquer. These dinosaurs are dying and the young people along with those who are woke are not buying what they were selling. So, we will also talk about what life will be like, once we wake up, tune in, and exercise our innate power that we have been conditioned to suppress.
Like the movie “The Current War,’” where humanity first experienced the light bulb and what life was like with electricity in the home, we as a species are witnessing what life will be like when the heart light bulb turns on and becomes our main power source. When love rules our actions instead of our minds peace and unity can actually be experienced in our lifetime. When men and women rule together instead of opposing we will see rapid change in our world. Our children and grandchildren will read about what life was like before the switch was flipped much as we read what life was like before electricity.
Another thing to consider in this conversation of awakening, is that there are no such things as coincidences so keep in mind the uncertainty of so many things is forcing the mass awakening and rather than be afraid of it, we want to empower you to dig deep and have deep discussions to determine where you want to be, who you want to be and how you want to show up in this next shift. And as the seasons change, so do we as people. Although we may remove ourselves from nature, and surround ourselves with material and technology, the season of awakening is upon us, and it will affect all of us.
In this episode we will discuss:
Different types of awakening
- What is an awakening?
- What keeps us asleep?
- Why should we awaken?
- How to embrace the awakening process
- Tools for awakening the mind, heart, and your commitments to contribution.
- We’ll also touch on the ascension, cosmic changes, 3,4, and 5 dimensions and our own experiences with awakening.
Types of Awakenings:
Spiritual or Soul Awakening:
Spiritual awakening can be painful emotionally because we shed away many of the constructs, beliefs, patterns that we had surrounded ourselves with, and accumulated over the course of our lives or even many lifetimes. It’s often called the dark night of the soul where you break down to breakthrough. There’s also a lot of shamans, coaches, and therapists that help one awaken by going to the depths and doing necessary shadow work. Many soul awakenings happen with the help of spirit guides or your higher self.
An emotional awakening can take form by being able to love oneself, being able to express emotion, or having a heart-opening experience. This is experienced as devotion, self-satisfaction, unconditional love for oneself, or heart chakra activation.
When energy commonly referred to as qi, prana, or kundalini is awakened, major changes can occur.. Ancient practices such as tai chi, yoga, meditation, and tantra, help to awaken this energy, but sometimes life force energy awakens spontaneously. We discussed sexual awakenings in episode 12 that may help you dive deeper into sensual body awakenings.
A mental awakening can result in the development of a new personality. This type of transformation requires cutting away and moving past old limiting and toxic mind loops or patterns and developing qualities such as self-acceptance, authentic self-love empowerment, and understanding. Mind awakenings can be very liberating and powerful.
When we are awakened in many areas we can talk about unique ideas because we are open to things being not what we originally thought, we can discuss and determine if we believe or deny the new thought rather than not entertain it because we weren’t taught that in school. There are new science, beliefs, and information daily. Your job is to determine what is true for you.
What is an awakening?
Awakening is defined as “an act or moment of becoming suddenly aware of something.”
Have you ever had a lucid dream? A dream in which at some point in the dream, you realize that you are dreaming. Once you realize that you are dreaming, you come into the power you have to manipulate this dream world. For those of us who have had a lucid dream at some point in our lives, we often take flight, jump to other planets or moments in time and even into altered versions of our current life. Maybe for once we are extremely fit, or wealthy, or famous, or a sex god. Regardless of the multitude of choices we have in that precious moment of dream lucidity, we have at our disposal our unlimited amount of power.
Awakening is very similar to a lucid dream. The most difficult component to master in both a lucid dream and an awakening, is awareness. Like riding a bike, anyone can learn how to have a lucid dream. Both Mike and I are really into the topic of lucid dreams because it is so intriguing and we will dedicate an episode to this ability, but we are not talking about waking up in a dream, we are talking about waking up from a dream.
For the millions of people who have seen the 1999 Keanu Reeves film, “The Matrix,” there is a pivotal scene where Keanu’s character, Neo, must choose between taking a blue pill, which will allow him to remain asleep, and a red pill, which will result in him waking up from the matrix.
The Wachowski’s brothers who wrote and directed the blockbuster hit didn’t conceptualize the matrix, the red and blue pill, and the various characters in the movie to include Neo from the ether. These concepts date back to the beginning of human civilization and are recorded in the Bible, the Koran, the Book of Kabbalah, The I-Ching, ancient Vedic texts, and pop up in the discourses of many of our prominent philosophers such as Aristotle and Plato. As a matter of fact, Plato introduced his Allegory of the Cave, during the later part of the 5th Century.
In the Allegory of the Cave, he stated that several prisoners were bound and forced to look at a wall in a darkened cave. A fire was lit behind them casting light upon the wall that the prisoners looked at, between the fire, and the prisoners sat a puppeteer, who using the light of the fire, cast shadows upon the wall that the prisoners watched. What the prisoners saw was their reality. The prisoners associated the images cast on the wall as their reality, not knowing that they were simply looking at projections from the puppeteer behind them.
To have an awakening, or to take the red pill, would be the equivalent of one of the prisoners freeing himself, and turning around so that he may see the source of the projections. He would see the real light of the fire and not the reflection. He would also see the puppeteer and the puppets and therefore would cause him to adopt a new reality.
To bring us back to our current reality where our mobile devices cast the shadows upon the cave of our awareness, the moment we ask the question, IS THIS REAL? We have the ability to turn around and see for ourselves the existence of a puppeteer.
“In the Information Age, the first step to sanity is FILTERING. Filter the information: extract for knowledge.
Filter first for substance. Filter second for significance. These filters protect against advertising.
Filter third for reliability. This filter protects against politicians.
Filter fourth for completeness. This filter protects against the media.”
― Marc Stiegler, Davids Sling
What Keeps Us Asleep?
Remember what we said about how the Waskowski gleaned their inspiration from? Well, Fyodor Dostoyevsky was a Russian novelist, short story writer, essayist, and journalist. Dostoevsky’s literary works explore human psychology in the troubled political, social, and spiritual atmospheres of 19th-century Russia, and engage with a variety of philosophical and religious themes. His most acclaimed works include Crime and Punishment (1866).
One of his famous quotes answers the question, what keeps us asleep. Fyodor states, “The best way to keep a prisoner from escaping is to make sure he never knows he’s in prison.”
Anyone reading this right now owns their own prison. The programming we receive from our families as we are raised, the schools we attended, the people we have attracted into our space, the media on our TVs, our laptops, our smartphone, and tablets are the same shadows that the prisoners in the cave accept as reality. Instead of being bound and unable to turn around, we are led to believe that the cave, the puppeteer, and the shadows do not exist.
The cave has become our own homes. We lounge around, scrolling through artificial images, reading various narratives of the truth, and accept them as the new reality. Who the puppeteer is, is a question for conspiracy theorists, historians, anthropologists, and the like. Knowing who the puppeteer is may or may not be important to your awakening. The most important thing that you can do, is to seek the source, not the projection.
Self-Medicating or Numbing Our Experience:
We are conditioned to consume medicine to make us feel better before we consult our innate ability to harmonize our bodies through meditation. Pharmaceutical drugs have a seat in our modern take on healthcare, however, it should not be the only seat. We are seeing a huge increase in alcohol abuse, drug misuse, and overdose and it’s become trendy to unwind with Wine. While there’s nothing wrong with imbibing in ceremony we have to be careful about numbing and self-medicating our overwhelm of the human experience. We cannot awaken if we are continuously drunk, high, or overmedicated.
So, how do we awaken?
Well, the natural world is designed to facilitate the awakening process. Ask any hardcore surfer, hiker, gardener or painter, and they will tell you that to be woke, is simply to be present in the moment.
In the Allegory of the Cave, the prisoners would discuss the images that they saw amongst themselves. As they discussed what they saw, they each bought into the false reality. Now, imagine scrolling through any one of your social media platforms and for a second, find yourself in the cave, discussing such polarizing topics as gun rights, abortion, racial and gender inequality, climate change, political orientation, food security, and even whether or not aliens exist. While we talk or text one another, we are living in either the past or the future. We give up the freedom found in the present moment and enjoy the penitentiary of the past, or the correctional facility of the future.
So again, to have an awakening is to follow your bliss. Connect with nature. If you surf, allow the saltwater to connect you with who you are. If you are a hiker, allow the trail to take you deeper into yourself. If you are a gardener, put your hands in the soil and remind yourself where your flesh came from, and where it will go. If you are a painter or any type of artist, tap into the source of your inspiration.
You are not the prisoner. You are not the shadowed images. You are not the puppeteer, nor are you the puppets. In the Allegory of the Cave, you are the fire. You create your own reality.
To make this process a bit easier, we have compiled a shortlist of practices and tools that will lead you to your own awakening process. Here are some of the things and teachers that helped us awaken and take our personal power back to live a more heart-centered life.
Mind Awakening Tools:
A life-changing moment for me was learning that our thoughts become things and if mastering your mindset is new to you, we recommend reading books that have awakened our minds:
The Power of Now Eckhart Tolle
Letters From A Friend Tony Robbins
The Law Of Attraction Abraham Hicks
The power of your subconscious mind Joseph Murphy
The Untethered Soul by Michael Singer
We also have to stop feeding the mind junk. So eliminate junk programming funded by junk drug companies or junk food.
Spirit or Soul Awakening Tools:
Depending on who you ask, many of us are less awakening and more returning, and less learning but more unlearning what we have been conditioned to feel about ourselves.
Books To Assist In Awakening:
- A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle
- The Shift by Wayne Dyer
- The Seat of the Soul by Gary Zukav
- Be Here Now by Ram Dass
- Becoming Super Human by Joe Dispenza
- Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself by Joe Dispenza
- Metahuman by Deepak Chopra
- Meditate daily
- Practice yoga
- Spend time in nature without media and ground, get negative ions, forest bathe
- Exercise and the best exercise will be something you love to do daily, basically, any movement will help you change your physiology which changes your state of mind. Inactivity breeds depression and anxiety. So depression keeps your mind stuck on the past and anxiety is concern over the future.
Heart Awakening Tools:
- Touch is a method for awakening one of our most powerful senses
- Add self-love, self-care, and nurturing rituals to your daily practice
- Practice open heart communication
- Replace discussions of difference with discussions of unity
- Practice random acts of kindness, smile at a stranger
- Practice forgiveness
- Serve love- determine how you will contribute with your unique gifts
- Hug it out!
To wake up different parts of yourself, try to tap into natural healing modalities such as reiki, acupuncture, chiropractic work, crystal healing, aromatherapy, and herbs. All these practices tap into your energy and allow you to control and manipulate your energy rather than allowing someone else to do so.
Why should we awaken?
There is a scene in The Matrix where the infamous Agent Smith is eating steak with Cypher, who has already taken the red pill and has experienced being WOKE. As Cypher eats his steak, he realizes that despite how delicious the steak is, he knows that it is just a program and that it does not exist. The taste and texture of the steak are his prison and he misses it. I will spare you the details in the event that you have not seen the film, but the point here is that many of us don’t want to wake up because the dream is comfortable. The prison is plush and the prison guards have made them feel special.
Predictions and Changing Of The Guards:
The spiritual world is buzzing with predictions, facts, and accounts that the collective human experience is going through a great awakening. This process is causing the prisoners to question their view and position. The old guard is slowly dying off and maintaining their control is becoming more and more difficult. For those of us who want the illusion, the blue pill, and the fake steak, they are aiding the prison guards by keeping those of us who want the truth, who want to look into the fire, focused on the shadow.
According to Aristotle, humans are called the “rational animal.” He said, “Since the ability to reason is the one capacity or function which separates humans from the other animals, being rational is our defining quality, our “final cause,” our “telos. The excellent human is the one who in actuality, does reason well and choose his or her actions on the basis of reason.”
Although there are more than three million differences between your genome and the genome of anyone else’s, we are 99.9% the same DNA wise. So, to function as a rational animal, it would be rational to say that every human on this planet has the same basic needs. It would be rational to say that when we work together, it is much easier to have those basic needs met. Therefore, a rational mind would realize that despite the fact that everyone is uniquely different, we all have the same needs, and those needs are better met when we work together.
But somehow along the way, an irrational thought was programmed in our collective mind that said, “that person over there looks different, and therefore they do not have the same basic needs as I do. And if they do not have the same basic needs as I do, they are less than me and therefore I am justified in taking what they have in order to satisfy my own needs.
For example, this killing over a difference of skin color is an irrational action and has got to stop. People don’t profit off of division, governing bodies do, hence the saying, “Divide and Conquer.” This world is made up of people who want to profit off of division. It’s easy to control people when there is division. When you stand in judgment of one another you’re giving your power away to those that can control you with that limited belief.
Do you know what the opposite of divide and conquer is?
Unite and build.
If you can look around and see ways that will unite us so that together we can build a better reality, then you just might be WOKE.
If you can see your physical health as an extension of your mental health, then you just might be WOKE.
If you can celebrate difference rather than see a difference as a way to rate their value, then you just might be WOKE.
To “be woke,” is simply to shift your awareness from the illusion of everyday life, and focus it on what is real. What does your body feel like at this moment? Don’t focus on why your body feels the way it does, for the moment you do so, you are either thinking of something that has happened or something that might happen. You are focused on the illusion established by time.
Although reflecting on the past as a means of self-discovery is important to the awakening process, and strategizing how to continue to evolve is important, it should be known that movement happens in the now. Growth, evolution, ascension and awakening take place when we stop giving our awareness away to what is happening outside of us and shift that awareness to what is happening inside of us.
The practice of meditation sets the stage for such inner work and it is through meditation that we can experience an awakening. Reading self-help books, attending spiritual seminars, watching YouTube videos and listening to podcasts from the world’s best spiritual leaders does a wonderful job of preparing the mind, body, and soul for an awakening, however, it is only through the application of the practices taught by our spiritual leaders that the individual and the collective consciousness can actively participate in the ascension process.
This next bit of info may be a bit out there for a newly awakened mind, but, because it is extremely relevant, let’s spend a few moments to talk about it. There have been several evolutionary changes to the human mind and body that coincide with the evolutionary changes of our planet.
We recently produced a podcast on the chakra system and how to utilize the body’s subtle energy to produce positive effects in one’s life.
This 7 chakra system however was once a 5 chakra system, and now we are operating from a 9 energy system. Let’s look at a basic timeline.
- The Neanderthal hominids were a 5 energy centered being. They were focused on survival and therefore applied their senses to studying the natural world from which they filled their basic needs of food and shelter.
- Roughly 85,000 years ago, the Neanderthal finished their mutation process and evolved into the 7 energy centered Homo Sapiens. Homo Sapiens gifted with the ability to speak, read, and write, focused most of their energy developing the mind. Instead of living in harmony with the natural world, we were able to manipulate the natural world.
- In 1781, an astronomer discovered Uranus and thus began our evolution into a 9 energy centered being which is where we are currently. We have held onto our 5 centered survival instincts, our 7 centered strategic mind, and have added a 9 centered awareness that focuses on our individual relationship to the world, solar system, and the cosmos.
- Many spiritual leaders state that our life on this planet up until December 21, 2012, existed on a 3-dimensional platform. This shift started around December 21st, 2012, when all 9 planets in our solar system, including our Earth, Moon, and our Sun came into perfect alignment with each other. This galactic event happens every 5125 years!
- The long count Mayan calendar ended on 12/12/12. Theorists stated that 12/12/12 marked the end of the world, however, the spiritual world realized that 12/12/12 was the beginning of a 5-dimensional existence and that the human consciousness will begin the process of evolving.
- Some astronomers state that the Age of Aqurius began in 2012 marking the beginning of shifting of earth’s magnetic poles, which will affect all life on earth. The Piscean Age was dominated by the use of machines under the rule of established hierarchies. The Aquarian age will be ruled by awareness, information, and energy.
So, what are 3D and 5D consciousness? Before we state the differences, know that there is a transitional 4th Dimension. This 4th D is what is coined as the awakening process. Let’s break down what it means to live in a 3D world and what it means to live in a 5D world.
- 3D consciousness/5d consciousness
- Ego based identity/soul based identity
- Separation consciousness/unity consciousness
- Conditional love/unconditional love
- Victim consciousness/co-creator consciousness
- Seeing is beliving/beliving is seeing
- Logical thinking/intuitive thinking
- Duality consciousness/source consciousness
- Dence energy/high energy
- Slow to manifest/instant manifestation
- Ruled my mind/ruled by the heart
- Fear-based/divine based
- Lack and limitation/abundance
The 5D being is consciously aware of all his or her actions. The 5d knows that everything is energy to include action, thought, intention, and the food that we consume. Therefore being aware that everything you eat must have a high energy frequency in order to maximize the overall frequency of the mind/body. Low vibrational food equals low vibrational symptoms such as acute and chronic diseases and allergies.
What was the last thing you ate? If it was an organic fruit, vegetable, or grain, then you have consciously raised your vibration. Anything less than, and you have contributed to lowering your vibration and thus introducing low vibrational experiences to your mind/body.
French philosopher Henri Bergson has a famous quote: “The eye sees only what the mind is prepared to comprehend.”
Never before have we had so much information and power in the palm of our hand. We are walking around with a personalized master computer in our pocket and its likely pod fam, you are listening to us or reading this blog on that very device, your smartphone is super powerful and so are you. How will you use this device? Will you dig deep and decide to learn as much as possible and be the change you want to see in the world. We hope that rather than being the puppet in the puppet show you become the master of your own reality and step up, wake up, and create your most beautiful life. That is what we were put here for and we signed up to be here for in this time of great awakening. Embrace it and may it empower you.
