Vegan Beauty Broth

Does your diet leave you feeling old, tired, with dull skin? It could be that you need to add some beauty ingredients into your diet to support the gut. The problem with our modern food choices is that many of the cheap conventional choices are designed for speed, flavor, and portability, rather than boosting absorption, boosting beauty, providing a full spectrum of nutrients, and maintaining the balance of gut flora. Therefore, what we eat, tends to feed some bacteria more than others. Once our gut flora is out of balance, so begins a chain of events that lead to problems, such as yeast infections, food allergies, premature aging, weight gain and even neurological disorders. Luckily there are some steps you can take, to give your gut what it needs to make you look, and feel, beautiful and healthy such as:

  • Eating organic
  • Avoiding fast food
  • Avoiding processed food
  • Avoiding foods laden with sugar and dangerous artificial sweeteners
  • Minimizing caffeine and alcohol intake
  • Maximizing quality water intake
  • Adding raw food to your diet
  • Take digestive enzymes regularly
  • Eat and drink fermented products
  • Take probiotics regularly
  • Minimize polluted areas, replace with nature time

But the crown jewel of taking care of your delicate digestive system is incorporating vegan beauty broth regularly into your diet.

You can make a beauty broth using leftover veggies or from scratch using this recipe below. Each vegetable I’ve selected has a unique nutritional offering and benefit to your body. Mushrooms, ginger, garlic, onions, and astragalus add an extra boost for your qi and immune system. You can use other veggies on hand, but this recipe has provided the most results for our beauty team.

This vegan beauty broth is great if you’re looking to:

  • Repair your gut
  • Boost energy
  • Get an extra glow
  • Heal achy joints and muscles
  • Boost your immunity
  • Add nutrient density to your diet

Creator: I Am Zuri

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Total Time: 24 hours for the broth to be complete

Serving: 4-6 servings

Ingredients:

1-2 inch piece of fresh organic ginger sliced

4 organic green onions sliced

2 garlic cloves peeled and finely chopped or pressed

3 medium shitake mushrooms chopped

4-5 pieces of astragalus (Huang Qi)

1 tablespoon of organic apple cider vinegar

12 cups of spring or filtered water

Optional- 1 tablespoon organic miso paste or ½ cup organic seaweed

Himalayan salt to taste

Instructions: Cut all veggies, add water and cover ingredients in a large pot with water. Add apple cider vinegar and simmer for 24 hours. If using a crockpot or slow cooker be sure to cook for at least 36 hours to reach the same result. Once it has simmered for 24 hours, strain, and store in glass jars or freeze for later use. Optional ingredients such as miso or seaweed up the nutrient content but they do change the flavor quite dramatically. If you like seaweed we recommend this option for an ultimate beauty broth. But if you add the core ingredients this broth is great for rehydrating the body, warding off colds, warming the body on a cold day and above all, healing and sealing your gut!

Note: If you’re not vegan, we have a beauty bone broth that is also excellent.

Sharing is caring!

    • […] Bone Broth- Bone broth is something humans have been eating for thousands of years. Bone broth is simply a way to describe a meat stock that simmers for 24-48 hours with the bone in. This simmering causes the bones and ligaments to release healing compounds like collagen, proline, glycine, and glutamine that can transform your health. I made sure to eat this at least once every day. Bone broth doesn’t sound tasty but trust me; I have a beauty bone broth recipe that you will enjoy here. If you’re vegan, use my beauty broth recipe here. […]
