Beauty Hacks For Jet Setters

My life moves fast, therefore, I like to be prepared! Whether or not I’m prepping for a trip,  I always have some pre-packed travel bags and a travel pack list ready to go. It’s important for me to have my, “go-to,” items that I know are safe, effective, and that never fail me while on the go.

The purpose for these hacks is to make jet setting easier, healthier and doable for any busy person. The three travel hacks I swear by, relate to the three areas that I suffer from the most while traveling.

These three things can literally make or break my adventure: sleep, health, and hydration.

Because you’re in germ infested tight quarters, are often sleep deprived, and thirsty while traveling, I’ve developed these immune system support hack lists to help be prepared for all scenarios with a brief explanation on each item and why they are MUSTS for adventure enthusiasts.

Sleep hacks are needed because without good rest you can’t go, go, go!

This is one of those things that helps if you’re taking naps or sleeping where you can’t control the light from your environment.

  • Noise Canceling Headphones or Earbuds
  • Meditation or Sleep Playlist

I create playlists for all occasions, and sleeping or meditation is not an exception. If there’s a noisy plane, a leaky faucet, a barking dog or anything that cannot be avoided. These sleeping or meditation playlists can be the difference between a good night’s sleep and no sleep.

  • Pillowcase
  • Travel pillow
  • Travel blanket

This is a neurotic tenancy of mine, but I like a clean smelling (non-chlorine bleached) pillow case. Pillows are so important when you’re crunched up on a plane or in a funky bed. If there’s room, I’ll travel with a pillow and pillowcases, but usually my travel pillow will do just fine. I also can’t sleep if I’m cold, so I prefer to bring a blanket that can easily roll and be used throughout the trip.

  • Magnesium Lotion

For me this isn’t optional anymore because I’ve noticed a distinct calming that comes over me when I use magnesium lotion. Once your magnesium stores become depleted, it is difficult to find relaxation.

  • Socks

Make sure you have socks on longs flights and for the dirty hotel floors. Cold feet is another thing that just drives me crazy while in a plane, so I always make sure I have a pair of socks easy to grab if I’m wearing heels or sandals. Socks help to keep your body temperature up when you’re in your hotel room too, and they keep you from sharing foot germs with the previous hotel guests.

This is a lifesaver for jet lag and time zone changing. 6 shots of this spray will make you float away.

  • Chamomile or Kava Kava tea

Any non caffeinated tea or herb tonic that will help you relax your body and mind after travel is highly recommended. Note: I don’t recommend pharmaceuticals for sleeping or for sleep deprivation.

Hydration hacks to keep you fluid.

I bring a hot/cold canteen with me for making tea ahead of boarding, or to keep a shake cold. Having something warm when you’re on a cold flight can be the difference of sleeping or not sleeping. Also love to have the option of having a cold shake if I’m traveling somewhere warm or on smaller planes that don’t have the air conditioning blasting.

I use coconut oil all over my body just ahead of a shower and sometimes as a moisturizer throughout the day.

  • Lotion

Both hot and cold climates deplete your body’s moisture, so always be sure to have a lotion with some medicinal benefit such as MSM, tea tree oil, or lavender. That way you can pamper your skin with moisture and medicine.

These Immune and Stamina support hacks are key to having energy!

This is a lifesaver! Take this just at the first sign of feeling a cold or flu coming on.

  • Wipes

I use these to wipe down the hotel room, the phone, remote or anything I plan on using. I also use them on the plane and to clean my hands if I’m eating something sticky like a juicy orange.

  • Hand Sanitizer

I always carry an organic hand sanitizer. I don’t recommend using the sanitizer pumps provided in many bathrooms. They are usually full of toxins and preservatives like phenoxyethanol.

  • Thieves Oil

Put a few drops of Thieves essential oil blend in a capsule and swallow with water to support your immune system.

Vitamin C is one of the most important antioxidants for supporting our immune system.

Vitamin D is wonderful for many things including regulating your immune system.

Vitamin B-12 helps keep your energy up and active while you’re adventuring and can be taken daily.

I highly recommend liquid vitamins over pill form. The body absorbs approximately 98 percent of the vitamins and minerals contained in liquid form. However, the body only absorbs anywhere from 3 to 20 percent of the vitamins in a vitamin pill.

If you’re not getting enough iron in your diet, then I recommend taking iron regularly. It helps keep your body temperature regulated, and helps your heart, mind, and cells functioning properly. I suggest a liquid form of iron for the better absorbency.

Zinc is a wonder mineral. It is required for the catalytic activity of approximately 100 enzymes and it plays a role in immune function, protein synthesis, wound healing, DNA synthesis, and cell division. Zinc is my go to mineral if I feel a sore throat coming on, or if I feel run down.

  • Green Tea & Ginseng

Caffeine can help you if your stamina is off. I highly recommend green tea and ginseng. Ginseng activates your natural energy stores and you may need them to climb a mountain, or swing from a tree while your adventuring.

  • Face Masks

These become important when traveling in countries with extreme pollution. This sound strange to anyone who hasn’t visited China. But seriously, you need a great mask that will help you navigate through the big cities.

Healthy Travel Tools

I recommend travel bottles. I prefer glass but you can use plastic that are non-leaching and BPA-free. The truth is all plastic is toxic.

  • Travel brush set

I don’t like to take all of my makeup brushes on the go, I take a small set so if something gets damaged or compromised, I won’t be losing as much. Travel brushes are smaller and easy to keep clean.

This will help you find products (while in the U.S.) in case you forgot your bag and can’t locate your go-to products.

  • Language Apps

So important if you’re traveling without a guide and without familiarity of the local language. Just type in your destination to the app store and you’ll find a lot of options.

Always have a pack list ready.

I highly recommend creating a list you can laminate for you jet setting. Just putting it in your cosmetic box, bag or roller, so you can just check off and go. But if that sounds like too much work, don’t worry I have you covered with this Adventure Checklist.
